SOGL forecasting and generating-module work plans - the details.

This is SOGL forecasting in the power system: full generation forecasts and data exchange for planning and operating the Polish power system (KSE). Basis: Regulation (EU) 2017/1485. SOGL (System Operation Guidelines).

If you run a type B, C or D unit - a generating module from 0.2 MW - you are an SGU (Significant Grid User). The operator expects a day-ahead generation forecast, own demand and planned outages.

In NEXIVO you add the farm as an object - PPE and generating module. The model computes the forecast and the system files the work plan with the operator: for your own module or for the points you run from one account.

What SOGL (System Operation Guidelines) is

SOGL is the EU rulebook for power-system operation. It ties TSOs, DSOs and SGUs together so system operators see distributed generation, not only large plants.

For a producer that means a day-ahead generation forecast sent to the operator, not an internal plan - SOGL reporting to the right DSO or TSO, in the format and timing the network needs.

Who is in scope: SGU, generating modules, 0.2 MW

SGUs include operators of type B, C and D generating units - in practice every generating module with installed capacity of 0.2 MW or more.

The 0.2 MW threshold - 200 kW - covers PV farms, wind plants, hydropower plants and other sources at that scale. If you sit above it, the operator expects a generating-module work plan: a day-ahead generation forecast including own demand and planned outages. Generating-module work plans - PGEN, availability, monitoring

The operator expects a work plan: scheduled net active-power generation (PGEN), maximum and minimum availability (PDmax / PDmin), and with autogeneration also power injected into the grid (PGENa). The network horizon is the current day through d+9. NEXIVO computes 10 days - the operator gets the daily plan SOGL requires.

The TSO and DSO notice of 25 March 2025 calls on owners of type B, C and D modules to file plans. From 14 April 2025 operators monitor quality: whether the required data was submitted before each hour of the day. That is not a nudge. That is a check. Full work-plan, PGEN and monitoring write-up.

What you send the operator

The DSO or TSO gets the daily plan: how much the source will produce, how much goes to own demand, and when the unit will not run (maintenance, fault, curtailment). Without that, KSE operations lack a complete picture of distributed generation.

In NEXIVO you add the farm as an object: PPE and generating module, operator (every DSO and the TSO in Poland), and the meter profile. The system holds the actual farm, not a file.

Two weather algorithms

The forecast rests on weather and generation history at the PPE. We run two independent weather algorithms - if one stops responding, the other keeps the forecast. Distributed portfolio: PV, wind, hydro, CHP - one farm or several from a single account.

In the module you work with 10-day, day-ahead and 15-minute views. The operator gets the daily SOGL plan; in the platform you see it next to demand and balance.

SOGL is not tied to one technology. A type B, C or D source from 0.2 MW reports whether it is PV, wind, hydropower or CHP. In NEXIVO each farm is an object: PPE, generating module and outages. The model computes the forecast, the system files the plan with the operator.

Forecast versus metered output at the connection point

You only see model quality when you compare the forecast with actual production at the PPE. Before the plan goes to the operator, NEXIVO shows RES production, demand and balance (surplus or deficit) on one timeline.

How to start SOGL forecasting in NEXIVO

Create an account, open NEXIVO, go to SOGL. Add the farm as an object - PPE and generating module - and upload the meter profile. From then on the model computes the forecast and the system files the plan with the operator. The eight steps - from the 0.2 MW threshold to filing - are below.

Questions about SOGL and work plans.

What is SOGL?

SOGL (System Operation Guideline) is Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/1485 of 2 August 2017 on electricity transmission system operation. It governs TSO, DSO and SGU cooperation for planning and operating the Polish power system (KSE).

Who must submit SOGL forecasts?

Significant Grid Users with type B, C and D generating units — in practice generating modules from 0.2 MW. The operator receives a day-ahead generation forecast, own demand and planned outages.

How is SOGL different from commercial balancing?

SOGL is a duty toward the network operator: the generating-module work plan - daily forecast, own demand, outages. Commercial balancing is hourly schedules for a trading party — different recipient, different resolution. NEXIVO computes and files the SOGL work plan. We do not do commercial balancing.

Which horizons does NEXIVO show?

10 days, one day and 15 minutes — RES production, demand and balance. The operator gets the daily work plan required by SOGL.

Does SOGL cover PV, wind and hydro?

Yes. The 0.2 MW threshold is technology-agnostic. One PPE in NEXIVO can hold photovoltaics, wind, hydropower and CHP.

Where do I run this at Nivato?

Can I run more than one connection point?

Yes. You run your own farm or a portfolio of points from one account. Setup, the DSO request and daily filing are handled together — first month free.

Does a 20 kW installation fall under SOGL?

No. The threshold is 200 kW (0.2 MW) — type B, C and D modules. 20 kW is type A, usually a micro-installation. Generation control above 10 kW should not be confused with the work-plan duty. The capacity table is on the duty page.

What is a generating-module work plan?

Planning data for the DSO or TSO: PGEN, PDmax/PDmin, own demand, outages. The network horizon is d+9. NEXIVO computes 10 days; the operator gets the daily SOGL work plan. Work-plan details.

What is PGEN?

Scheduled net active-power generation — average power in that hour at the connection point, after own demand. With autogeneration the operator also expects PGENa (power injected into the DSO grid).

Since when do DSOs monitor work-plan quality?
